Praslin Island

The Seychelles in November 2021

After Cosmoledo and Alphonse Island we spent a couple of days on Praslin Island where our charter boat “Frenzy” is based. Similar to Cosmoledo, the fishing there was an uphill battle. The water was very warm and there were millions of tiny fodder fish about 1 cm in length on which all the other fish concentrated. Even the whales filled their bellies with them.

At the drop off, we tried our luck jigging and caught quite a few reef dwellers and also a splendid dog-tooth which tested our angling skills to the full. After a tough battle, we were delighted to land the fish before the sharks got to it. At that time there were sharks everywhere, almost a plague.
